Celebrating Seven Years of ADR Excellence
The International Centre for Arbitration and Mediation in Kampala (ICAMEK) proudly marks seven years of advancing Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in Uganda and beyond. Since our founding, we have worked to provide accessible, professional, and efficient services—resolving disputes through arbitration, mediation, adjudication, and dispute avoidance.
Over these years, ICAMEK has built a reputation as a trusted partner for justice, strengthened collaboration with the Judiciary and government, trained hundreds of professionals, and positioned Uganda as an emerging hub for ADR in the region.
As we celebrate this milestone, we continue to fulfill our mission: promoting dialogue over conflict, building capacity, and shaping ADR into a mainstream tool for justice and economic growth.
Why a National Arbitration Moot?
The University Arbitration Moot 2025 is a landmark initiative introduced at this significant moment in ICAMEK’s journey. Arbitration is no longer the future—it is the present. Across Africa, commercial disputes are increasingly resolved outside traditional courtrooms. Yet many young lawyers graduate without practical exposure to arbitration or ADR.
This Moot bridges that gap by giving students:
- Practical exposure to arbitration proceedings beyond textbooks.
- Skills in research, advocacy, and teamwork that are valuable for both legal practice and life.
- Mentorship and pathways to professional growth through ICAMEK’s training programs.
By investing in students today, ICAMEK is nurturing a generation of lawyers who will lead Uganda and Africa in ADR tomorrow.
Overview of the Competition
The ICAMEK Inaugural University Arbitration Moot 2025 is a no-fee, purpose-built competition designed to nurture the next generation of arbitration practitioners.
This flagship initiative combines rigorous case analysis, advanced advocacy training, and real-world arbitration problem-solving to develop a scalable pipeline of skilled talent for universities, law firms, and corporate legal teams.
With limited capacity, attendance is mandatory for shortlisted teams, and selection will be highly competitive.
